SIBU: The Sarawak government is fully committed to supporting young teachers in their mission to transform the state into an education powerhouse.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, in a speech read by Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee at the Persidangan Guru Muda Sarawak (PGMS) 2024 today (July 27), pledged full physical and financial backing for the initiative.

“This includes providing technological facilities, professional training, and the necessary financial resources to implement the planned initiatives,” Abang Johari said.

He added that the government’s goal is to ensure every Sarawakian child receives a quality and comprehensive education.

To achieve this, the state has undertaken various initiatives, including development of educational infrastructure, education digitalisation, scholarship and financial aid programmes, teacher professional training and development, STEM education programmes, enhancing the English language, AI and technology education initiatives, collaborations with industries and higher education institutions.

“I am confident and believe that with close cooperation between all parties, we will be able to achieve our aspiration to make Sarawak an excellent state in education. Let us all work together towards a brighter future for our children,” he added.
