All nominees to become new SUPP Dudong, Sibu Jaya branch leadership for 2024-2027 term

SIBU (Nov 2): All nominees from the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Dudong branch and Sibu Jaya branch will automatically become the new branch leadership for the 2024-2027 term.

This was because the number of nominees did not exceed the number of branch committee members following the closing of the nomination on Friday.

Similarly, the number of candidates nominated for the Dudong Branch Youth Committee did not exceed the committee size, allowing all nominated youth members to smoothly assume leadership in the next youth branch.

It is anticipated that Councillor Yiing Sy Huat will be re-elected as the branch youth leader.

The new committee for the branch’s Women’s Group will also be appointed without contest, and it is reported that Chieng Ching Ping is a strong candidate for its new leader.

Wong Ching Yong will also seek a third term as the branch’s chairman.

Meanwhile, the Sibu Jaya branch is a new branch of the party; therefore its Youth and Women’s Group have not been established yet.

The two new branch committee members will undergo re-election after the branch members’ general approval this Nov 17.

The branch is also holding its first-ever elections, with Kong Sing Ping reportedly chosen as the inaugural chairman.

Additionally, the Members’ Congress will be held at Sibu Pulau Li Hua Hotel, Rejang Hall.

The Sibu Jaya Branch Members’ Representative Congress will take place from 9.30am to 11.30am, while the Dudong Branch Youth Committee Members’ Congress will run from 11am to noon.

Following that will be the Dudong Branch Women’s Group Congress from noon to 1pm, and the Dudong Branch Members’ Representative Congress from 1pm to 2pm.
