KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 18: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged the people to play a joint role in addressing the increasingly worrying tsunami disaster, while the government continues to seek solutions for the sake of civilization.
In a Facebook post, Anwar said that he had also recited the Hajj prayer along with the carriages after reciting Friday prayers at Surau Nur Perdana, Precint 10, Putrajaya today, to ask Allah SWT for help so that the nation can recover from the disaster.
The Prime Minister at the same time urged the people to manage their energy use carefully.
"I would also like to invite all of us to jointly manage energy consumption at this time, as carefully as possible so that each of us plays a better role, while I on behalf of the government work continuously to defend and protect everyone", he said.
Earlier, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan called on all mosques and surahs across the country to hold prayers and prayers, to invoke Allah's protection from the dust problems that are plaguing the country.
The call was made in the wake of stormy conditions affecting some areas of the country, with the public advised to take appropriate measures to reduce health risks from air pollution.
According to the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) portal, 32 areas across the country have recorded air pollution index readings at an unhealthy level as of 5 pm this evening, with Sarawak recording the highest total of unhealthy areas which includes Kuching (174), Samarahan (167), IPD Serian (166), Sibu (162), Bintulu (161), Sarikei (155), Sri Aman (154) and Kapit (153).
