MIRI: A suspect has been nabbed in connection with a brutal murder that went down in Sepupok Niah, showing up two months post the horrific event.

The Miri District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, verified this arrest happened on September 10 (Tuesday) by a squad from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

This suspect, a young local chap in his 20s, is suspected to be tied up in the slaying of a 40-year-old bloke at an oil palm plantation in Sepupok Niah back on July 29.

The suspect (left) is detained for questioning.

As cops dug through the case, they snagged a DIY firearm, known locally as a ‘bakakok’, suspected to have been the weapon of choice in the crime.

The suspect has been put behind bars by the Miri Court for a week, until September 18, to aid in delving deeper into the case.

ACP Alexson called on folks to hold back from spreading unconfirmed details about the case on social media, cautioning that gossip could spark undue panic and chaos in society.

He appealed to anyone with pertinent intel to step up and lend a hand to the cops by dropping by the closest police station or ringing them at 085-433730.

The victim, discovered around 8 pm on July 29, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his forehead, eye, neck, and stomach.

The probe remains ongoing as authorities strive to unravel the entire story behind the crime.
