KUCHING (Sept 1): Twenty-eight headmasters and assistant headmasters serving at various aided Chinese primary schools across Sarawak are set to retire next year, according to Datuk Jonathan Chai.
The Association of Boards of Management for Aided Chinese Primary Schools in Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions president revealed this based on the latest statistics released by the Federation of Sarawak Aided Chinese Primary Schools Teachers’ Unions.
Chai said six out of the 28 outgoing headmasters and assistant headmasters were serving in Sibu, followed by Kuching with five, Padawan (3); Meradong, Serian and Samarahan (2 each); Sarikei, Betong, Kanowit, Dalat, Limbang, Lubok Antu, Sri Aman and Bintulu (1 each).
Additionally, he said a couple of aided Chinese primary schools in Kuching and Serian were already operating without headmasters.
“To my understanding, Kuching Chung Hua Primary School No.5 and SJK(C) Sungai Apong as well as SJK Chung Hua Tapah near Serian are awaiting the appointment of new headmasters.
“It is understood that SJK Chung Hua Batu 10 Kota Padawan is also without a headmaster now while the headmaster serving at SJK Chung Hua Sin San Tu will be retiring soon,” he added.
He hoped that these aided Chinese primary schools will be assigned with new headmasters soon.
