KUCHING, Oct 2: Business-to-business (B2B) networking session between Sarawak tourism industry activists and Indonesia opens up space for both sides to explore cooperation opportunities as well as expand regional market networks.
The Sarawak: Gateway to Borneo Business Networking Session (B2B) Indonesia 2026 programme was held in Surabaya on 28 September and Jakarta on 30 September, involving representatives of the tourism industry of Sarawak along with Indonesian trading partners.
The session enabled industry activists of both parties to interact directly, as well as exchange views on market developments and the needs of their trading partners.
Indonesian trading partners also have the opportunity to get information about Sarawak's tourism products and offerings, while Sarawak industry activists gain insight into Indonesia's market as well as potential trading partner interests.
Among the program's complementary features are updates to destinations and airlines, presentation of Sarawak tourism products as well as one-on-one business partnership sessions discussing potential tourist packages, promotional opportunities and transport links.
Director of Marketing (ASEAN & Domestik), Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), Gustino Basuan said, Indonesia is an important market for Sarawak besides being a regional tourism partner with strong cultural, historical and geographical ties.
"Indonesia is an important market for Sarawak, but more importantly, it is a close regional tourism partner. We share long-standing cultural, historical and geographical ties, particularly through Borneo", he said in a statement.
He said Sarawak also saw potential for both sides to complement each other's strengths through ongoing links between the tourism industry.
According to him, the effort is expected to open up opportunities that will benefit both sides' industrial activists, as well as offer more options for tourists to explore the Borneo region.
STB said that the connections built through these B2B sessions will continue to be developed to explore new opportunities with potential partners found in Surabaya and Jakarta, including in terms of market understanding, product development and distribution. -TVS
