KUCHING (March 30): Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2025 students from the Bandar Kuching and Stampin constituencies are eligible for rewards for outstanding results, starting from six As, said Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii.

He said the ‘SPM 2025 Excellent Rewards’ initiative was introduced to recognise and encourage outstanding SPM students as they receive their results on Tuesday.

Dr Yii told reporters after announcing the initiative at the Democratic Action Party (DAP) service centre here yesterday that students achieving six As will receive RM200; seven As (RM300); eight As (RM500); nine As (RM600); and 10 As or more (RM700).

Eligibility is determined by the address stated on the student’s identity card (IC), he added.

“For example, if the address in your IC states Miri but you currently live in Padungan, unfortunately you would not qualify,” he said.

Dr Yii said that this initiative has been implemented since 2023, with nearly 400 students benefitting from it in 2025.

“Initially, participation was low as it was a new initiative, but awareness has grown and results have improved. Last year’s SPM results recorded one of the highest numbers of students achieving straight As, and higher numbers are expected this year.

“Overall, over the past three to four years, we have distributed over RM1 million through this SPM incentive programme,” he said, adding other initiatives include rewards for STPM students and those pursuing tertiary education.

Students can also scan this QR code to register for the initiative.

Students may register to participate via the application form available on the service centre’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/DapSarawakOfficial/ or by scanning the QR code. Registration for the SPM rewards closes on Saturday.

Also present was DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen and secretary George Lam.
