KUCHING, May 24: Angline Johnatan emerged victorious in the Kumang Pekit Kumang Betong 2026 pageant, held in conjunction with the Betong Division Pre-Gawai Dayak Celebration 2026 at the Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Complex in Betong on Saturday (May 23).
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, the 25-year-old sales consultant beat seven other finalists to secure the coveted title, earning RM10,000 in cash, a crown, a sash, a bouquet, and a certificate.
The first runner-up title, Lulong, was awarded to Clarissa Rinya Setian, a 22-year-old university student from Roban, Saratok. She received RM8,000 in cash, along with a sash, a bouquet, and a certificate.
Additionally, Clarissa also won the Best Ngepan (Traditional Attire) Award, which came with a cash prize of RM2,000.
As for the second-runner-up title, Selinggar Matahari, it went to 30-year-old Mary Puspa, a flight attendant who is also pursuing a master’s degree at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas).
She took home RM6,000 in cash, along with a sash, a bouquet and a certificate. Mary also won the Best Video Award, worth RM500.
The prizes were presented by Datin Rosemarie Wong, wife of Sarawak Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development and Layar assemblyman, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu. — DayakDaily
