KUCHING: Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Ir Lo Khere Chiang has urged his constituents to continue helping each other, especially those in need.

He said mutual support within the community can significantly ease people’s lives.

“This type of practice is something that is valuable in Sarawak, and I think such practices should continue for years to come.

Lo, speaking to reporters.

“Like in Kampung Haji Baki, whenever we find someone is in dire need of a helping hand, such as when their house burns down, we help them rebuild.

“Those who are fortunate enough will help those who are less fortunate, making the process much easier.”

He said this when met by reporters during the sacrificial meat distribution at Darul Ehsan Mosque here in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration today (June 17).

“I would like to see Sarawakians grow with these practices, taking care of each other whenever they are in trouble,” he added.

Speaking about the event, he mentioned that this practice has been an annual tradition, passed down from generation to generation.

“I have donated two cows for Kampung Haji Baki and a total of eight cows for the other six villages under my constituency.

“After the sacrifice, we distribute the meat to all the people in the village,” he added.
