SIBU (Oct 23): Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh recently led a team to look into the improvement works on the drains at Jalan Ling Chu Ming, in the West Bank here.
Accompanying him were Kapitan Wong Hua together with some Public Works Department (JKR) staff members.
Wong said both sides of the drains at Jalan Ling Chu Ming would take two to three weeks to be cleared.
“The rainy season is here and if the drains are not cleared, it will lead to massive floods hitting the surrounding areas, particularly the vegetable gardens,” he said in a statement.
As for the drain blockage at the left side of Jalan Ling Chu Ming, he said the culvert had collapsed and thus, blocked the outflow of water, causing massive floods in the surrounding areas.
“We will put in a large new culvert to ease the water outflow to prevent further flooding,” he added.
