KUCHING (July 27): Bung Bratak Heritage Association (BBHA) is seeking to work with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) to carry out more tree-planting and greening activities in Bung Bratak mountain and the surrounding hills to counter global warming.

BBHA chairman Dato Peter Minos said the matter was discussed during a recent meeting with Unimas, in view that the mountain in Bau and its surrounding area could be considered as among Kuching City’s green lungs.

“We may not be able to do much to stop industrial nations from polluting the world through carbon production which contributes to global warming, but we can certainly do our bit in producing more oxygen for the environment through tree-planting,” he told The Borneo Post.

The recent meeting with Unimas took place at the Bung Bratak Heritage Centre.

The delegation, led by Unimas vice chancellor Prof Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit, met with Minos for a strategic planning session.
