SARATOK: Community leaders and tribal leaders (KMKK) need to be sensitive to issues at the grassroots level in addition to being knowledgeable about the villages under their respective jurisdictions.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said community leaders must also understand their roles in order for them to perform the tasks entrusted them effectively and efficiently.

“KMKK needs to be sensitive to the issues and the needs of the people, by reporting to the government through the relevant departments and agencies for resolutions.

“In addition to being active, they must have complete data on villages under their respective jurisdictions to make it easier for them to identify needs or help that can be channeled,” he said during an appreciation ceremony for contributions from DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar in Kalaka yesterday.

Mohamad Duri presents contribution from Asfia to the head of Kupang Hilir Village, Jepri Johari.

He explained that KMKK acted as a bridge between the government and the grassroots to ensure that all development agendas and assistance provided reach the people.

Mohamad urged the community leaders to always be proactive, committed, efficient and skilled, apart from possessing trust and integrity.

At the event, a total of 60 KMKK in Kalaka constituency received donations from Asfia.
