Better water flow reaches Kampung Sagu through RM1.7 mln pipeline upgrade

SEBUYAU, Sept 22: A RM1.7 million water supply upgrade is giving Kampung Sagu residents better access to clean and reliable water, easing a key need for the rural community in Sebuyau.

The 6.2-kilometre pipeline project was fully funded by the Sarawak government through the Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications and implemented by the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), with work starting in May 2025 and completed in February this year.

Sarawak Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications and Sebuyau assemblyman Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi officiated the project during the Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat programme at the Kampung Sagu Community Hall here today.

The project forms part of ongoing efforts to expand water supply coverage and strengthen the reliability of water systems in Sebuyau, particularly for rural communities.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the upgraded system now provides residents with a more consistent water supply, enhancing their daily comfort and quality of life.

Also present were Sebuyau district officer Ayuradiman Bujang; Samarahan Water division engineer Adzahari Baini; Sebuyau district Iban community leader Merum Babu; and Kampung Sagu community leader Lita Godang. — DayakDaily
