Bintulu dad, stepmum remanded in connection with 4-year-old boy’s death

BINTULU (Oct 17): Police have apprehended a 28-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man here to assist with the investigation of the death of a four-year-old boy.

Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said the suspects will be remanded for seven days for further action.

He said the man was the victim’s biological father, while the woman was his stepmother.

The arrests followed a report on Oct 15 about the death of a boy aged four years and seven months at Bintulu Hospital at 7.50pm, he said.

Nixon added the incident is believed to have taken place in Sungai Setiam here.

“Initial investigations revealed injuries on the victim’s head and waist.

“The case is classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement.

Nixon advised the public to refrain from speculating on the case.
