Bintulu housebreaking suspect caught with karambit knife

BINTULU (July 25): Police apprehended a man at Jalan Bougainvillea here recently in connection with a series of housebreakings in the district.

Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said during the arrest, police seized a 15cm karambit knife from the suspect.

“A background check revealed that the suspect has a history of criminal activities, including 10 theft-related offences and two drug abuse records,” he said.

Nixon added that the Bintulu Magistrates’ Court has granted a five-day remand order for the suspect until July 29 to facilitate an investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code.

“The police are actively working to recover the remaining items believed to have been stolen during the housebreaking incidents linked to the suspect,” he said.

He stressed the police will not tolerate any criminal activities by individuals or groups and urged the public to come forward with any information related to crimes by contacting the Bintulu District police headquarters operations room on 086-318304.
