SERIAN (July 23): The body of an elderly man reported missing yesterday was found in a forest near Kampung Beradau in Siburan here at 10.05am this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations commander Nurzainuldin Marzukie said the deceased, identified as 60-year-old Lucian Singip, was found around 200 metre radius from the control post, located near his house in Kampung Beradau.

“There were some difficulties faced when we were searching for the victim as the area is muddy, However, we managed to find the body of the victim,” he told The Borneo Post.

Meanwhile, the victim’s daughter, Diana Lucian, said she lodged a report on her missing father at Padawan police station at around 1pm yesterday.

She said the area where her father’s body was found was where he used to go searching for ‘asam payak’.

“With the discovery of the body, I feel sad,  but at least I’m glad that the search and rescue (SAR) team found his body, even though it was lifeless,” she lamented.

She disclosed her father suffered from hypertension and had been experiencing chest pain over the past few days.

The SAR operation today was also participated by the police and their K9 unit, as well as the local villagers.

Bomba, in a statement yesterday, said a call on the incident was received at 7.10pm.

The daughter reported her father missing after he went out looking for ‘asam payak’ in the afternoon and failed to return home.
