SIBU (Sept 10): The 23-year-old man who was reported missing near the Lanang Bridge here on Sept 6 was found drowned in Batang Igan here last night.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said that the deceased’s body was found floating near a wharf of a shipyard in Sungai Bidut at 10.21pm.
“After discussing with the police and Civil Defence Force (APM), the APM operation team used a boat to recover the body.
“However, the victim remained unidentified at the time,” it added.
Bomba said the police confirmed that the body was identified as that of the missing man at 5:54am today.
Bomba said a search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched after the deceased’s father lodged a police report, stating that his son had gone out on Sept 5 at about 8pm to check his salary but had not returned.
The deceased’s motorcycle was later found near the Lanang Bridge, along with a mobile phone and a handwritten note.
