ADVERTISE HERE
KUCHING: A private school and a secondary school here have received hoax bomb threats via email.
Kuching police chief Asst Comm Ahsmon Bajah confirmed that police have received reports from the affected schools.
"Immediately upon receiving the reports, we took action with cooperation from the schools to clear the premises involved. For security's sake, the students were evacuated to a safe location," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 22).
Asst Comm Ahsmon said security flushing was conducted at both schools and no threat was found.
"Investigations found that the emails contained false threats and there was no evidence of any bomb threat in either school," he said.
He said police worked closely with the school management and Fire and Safety Department to take safety measures and maximise security coverage at both schools, adding that the public should not speculate about the matter.
A secondary school here was reported to have been evacuated on Wednesday (Nov 22) after receiving the bomb threat through email.
