KUCHING, Dec 22: Borneo Highlands Resident Club (BHRC) is urging landowners who have not yet registered themselves with the club to take immediate action so that they can take active involvement in the future development of the Borneo Highlands Resort.

BHRC chairman and Batu Kitang assemblyman Dato Lo Khere Chiang pointed out that the unavailability of a complete list of landowners and their contact details has impeded the smooth dissemination of vital information.

“BHRC serves as the communication centre connecting the landowners with government agencies or departments.

“Unfortunately, there is a lack of a comprehensive list which is important in facilitating the flow of crucial information to residents,” he said in a statement today.

He highlighted this during the second annual general meeting (AGM) of BHRC held at a restaurant here last Wednesday (Dec 20).

Lo emphasised the need for residents to recognise their responsibility to BHRC and spread awareness among non-member lot owners about the benefits and privileges of BHRC membership.

As an officially registered club under the Registrar of Societies (ROS) since 2022, BHRC has set objectives that include safeguarding residents’ and property owners’ rights, ensuring security services, updating authorities on infrastructure improvements, generating income for club operations, and organising cultural and recreational activities.

The AGM, attended by approximately 30 people, featured committee reports and the election of the committee for 2024-2025. Following the meeting, a fellowship dinner was held to celebrate the year’s end.

Lo expressed gratitude to the members, acknowledging the club’s eventful year marked by engagement with members and government agencies to fulfill BHRC’s constitutional objectives. — DayakDaily
