KUCHING: Borneo Eco Fish Sdn Bhd, a local Tilapia fish farm, has successfully captured the Singaporen market with the help of the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office in Singapore (STATOS).

In a statement on its Facebook page today (Sept 14), Borneo Eco Fish Sdn Bhd proudly shared their achievement.

“September 13, 2024, marks a big milestone for our farm. We have just exported our first delivery of fish via ‘super chilled’ technology, air-freighted to our customers at Sheng Siong Supermarket.

“For the first time in history, fresh fish is being harvested from Batang Ai and sold in a Singapore supermarket within 24 hours,” the company stated.

The Tilapia farm, located on a 247 hectares, or approximately 600 acres, of lake space in the pristine waters of the Batang Ai Hydro Electricity Dam in Lubok Antu district, also expressed its gratitude to STATOS for materializing this business trade.

“This trade can be a ‘game changer’ for Tilapia farmers in Sarawak, and once our state-owned transport plane is ready, we can do even more business like this,” the statement said.

STATOS is an initiative of the Sarawak Government to develop trade, investment, and tourism linkages between Singapore, Sarawak, and beyond.
