BINTULU, 22 Sept: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) enters a new phase when its wholly owned subsidiary, Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd (BPSB) is mandated to operate the Bintulu Port for 30 years until 31 August 2056.
Sarawak Government Secretary who is also Chairman of BPHB, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the mandate provides a clear operational framework and long-term certainty for the group to continue the growth and transformation of Bintulu Port.
According to him, the appointment of BPSB as operator of Bintulu Port came into effect on September 1, following the official return of the port to Sarawak.
"This appointment is for a term of 30 years and will expire on August 31, 2056.
"It provides a solid foundation for BPHB to plan the development and operation of Bintulu Port in the long term", he said.
He said that while speaking at the BPHB Appreciation Dinner here, last night.
Abu Bakar explained that the official return of Bintulu Port to Sarawak on 16 September last after 48 years under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government was one of important moments in the history of the port.
According to him, the development was also among important achievements during Dato Ruslan Abdul Ghani's tenure as President/Chief Executive Officer (Group) of BPHB before ending his service after three years leading the group since March 2023.
He said that during Ruslan's leadership period since joining BPHB in September 2022, the company has recorded progress in several areas including digitization, security and operations.
Abu Bakar also paid tribute to Ruslan for his contributions, vision and dedication while leading the BPHB.
In related developments, he welcomed the appointment of Anuar Ismail as President/Chief Executive Officer (Group) of BPHB who took office on August 17.
According to him, Anuar has more than 35 years of experience in leadership, strategy and operations as well as is committed to continue BPHB's direction towards making Bintulu Port a smart, agile and green port by 2030.-TVS
