KUCHING, 16 Sept: The government has improved the implementation of BUDI Diesel by expanding eligibility transfer facilities to any eligible Malaysian citizen, in addition to allowing registered owners to transfer qualifications for up to three diesel vehicles, effective immediately.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the improvement was made after taking into account complaints and feedback from people, especially pickup and diesel jip users in Sabah and Sarawak, although the eligibility limit for eligible vehicle owners has been raised to 400 liters per month.

"The government has agreed to improve BUDI Diesel. First, eligibility transfer facilities will be extended to any eligible Malaysian citizen and no longer limited to immediate family members", he said speaking at the 2026 Malaysia Day National Ranking Meeting at Borneo Kuching Convention Centre (BCCK), here tonight.

Anwar said the relief was also given to individuals who have more than one diesel vehicle registered on their behalf, with transfer of qualifications allowed for each vehicle up to a maximum of three vehicles.

"It came into force immediately. The government is efficient, public today, after which three vehicles continue to be allowed", he said.

In the meantime, he also announced special aid for purchase of one-time flight tickets in the amount of RM500 to each new student of a public higher education institution eligible for September and October admission sessions this year.

According to him, the aid involving public universities, polytechnics and community colleges is expected to benefit 7,095 students who will have to use domestic flights between Peninsula, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan Federal Territory to start their studies. - TVS
