SIBU (July 31): Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng presented Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) study incentives to 35 students of SMK Sacred Heart Sibu yesterday.
This marked the third consecutive year that the elected representative had carried out this programme, meant to recognise outstanding students in his constituency.
He added that a total of RM22,700 had been allocated for 57 students from SMK Sacred Heart Sibu and SMK Methodist Sibu.
“This award not only recognises academic success, but also celebrates the potential of students to positively impact society. Education is the key to unlocking opportunities and transforming lives,” he said during the ceremony.
Chieng also expressed gratitude to the teachers and parents who supported the students.
Moreover, he called upon the recipients to pursue tertiary studies and strive to contribute to Sarawak’s development.
“Sarawak is growing rapidly and we need more experts and professionals to support this progress and build a brighter future,” he said.
Among those present were Sibu District Education officer Ahli Chikba and SMK Sacred Heart principal David Teo.
