Car owner salvages his car from fire

SIBU: A quick action by a man managed to save his car from being completely destroyed by fire on Wednesday (Aug 7).

The incident, which only affected the car’s engine, happened around 9.23 pm in front of a house at Lorong Permai Jaya.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Sibu central station were dispatched to the scene, about 10km away after receiving a distress call.

Upon arrival, they found the flames had caused about 10 per cent damages to the car’s engine.

No operation was necessary as the fire was already extinguished by the owner using a water hose.

Once the situation was deemed safe and there was no risk of reignition, the team ended the operation at 10.02 pm.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
