Car parked at Sibu’s Jalan Hua Kiew road shoulder catches fire

SIBU (July 14): A car parked at the road shoulder in Jalan Hua Kiew here caught fire in the wee hours today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said they received a call at 1.35am informing about the incident and eight firefighters from Sibu Central fire station were deployed to the scene.

“Upon arrival at the location, the operation commander reported that a car parked at the road shoulder caught fire.

“The firefighters proceeded to put out the fire and the situation was brought under control at 1.40am,” it added.

However, it did not state the extend of damages suffered by the car.

Bomba said car owner was not at the location at the time of the incident, and the firefighters ended the operation at 1.56am after ensuring that there were no remnants of fire at the scene.
