Cenderawasih group emerges as bermukun champ

MUKAH: The Cenderawasih group was crowned as the champion of the Bermukun Competition in conjunction with Kaul Mukah 2024, last night.

This victory allowed the group representing the Miri Melanau Association to take home a cash prize of RM2000, a trophy, and a certificate.

The first runner-up was the Warih Melanau group from Kampung Bakong Oya, who also took home a cash prize of RM1,000, a trophy, and a certificate.

The third place was secured by the Perantau Seni Mukah group from Kampung Sungai Alo, taking home a cash prize of RM800, a trophy, and a certificate.

Meanwhile, the special award for costumes and makeup was won by the Mukun Budaya Limbang group.

The prizes were presented by Tellian assemblyman, Royston Valentine.

A total of 10 groups participated in the competition, with Bermukun art enthusiasts from Kuching to Limbang.

The competition received very encouraging responses and witnessed the presence of more than a thousand visitors.

Also present were political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Fridah Osman, acting District Officer of Mukah Peleadzman Ahip, and Temenggong Hendi Suhai.
