Chinese temple finally gets land title after long wait

KUCHING: The Tze Yin Yun Vun Kiong temple in Batu Kawa here has finally been granted a land title by the Land and Survey Department after several years of application procedures.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who handed over the land title to the temple’s committee members recently, commended their dedication and patience which facilitated the successful application.

“I would also like to thank the Land and Survey Department for its hard work, dedication and making it a reality.

“Since the establishment of the Unit For Other Religions (UNIFOR), numerous Chinese temples have benefited from the unit’s funding for construction, expansion and renovation projects,” he said.

The temple’s initiatives to award incentives to children of the committee members with outstanding academic achievement have underscored the Chinese community’s commitment to education and the role of temples and community association in nurturing the young talent.

“Students, including the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) graduates, will also be eligible from 2026 to enrol in any of five state-owned universities under the state government’s free tertiary education scheme, provided that they meet the university entry requirements,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Sim praised the committee members for transforming the Tze Yin Yun Vun Kiong temple  into a magnificent religious site.

“This transformation will enhance Batu Kawa as a tourist attraction while serving as a central hub for various community activities,” he said.
