Church seeks extra RM200k for renovations

SIBU: St. John’s Anglican Church at Tun Abang Haji Openg Road here requires an additional RM200,000 for its ongoing renovation efforts.

Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, Datuk Dr. Annuar Rapaee, said that he will help the church in securing these funds.

“They still need about RM200,000. I will inform the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) about the church’s need for renovation funds,” Dr. Rapaee told reporters after the handover of UNIFOR grant totalling to RM70,000 at the church today (Nov 26).

The church, one of Sibu’s oldest established in 1965, previously received a RM100,000 grant from UNIFOR in 2020 for similar renovation purposes.

Also present were Vicar of St John Church Sibu Archdeacon Joseph Dusit Ijau and others.
