KUCHING: Effective collaboration plays a vital role in every organisation and should be duly recognized by management, said Datuk Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

The Minister of Food Industry, Commodities, and Regional Development (M-FICORD) stressed that the absence of this key element could lead to cumbersome individual work processes and pose challenges in attaining established goals.

“The management of the organisation ought to foster a collaborative spirit in implementing the agenda, engaging all members irrespective of hierarchy.

“Each employee brings distinct skills and knowledge to the table.

“Executing the organisational agenda through collaboration encourages the exchange of thoughtful, creative, and innovative ideas,” he remarked at the Sarawak Land Development Board (SLDB) dinner event at Pullman Hotel Kuching On November 25.

As a result, he said it is important for organisational management to be mindful and proactively foster a sense of cooperation and unity to enhance the organisation’s strength.

In a similar development, SLDB acting general manager Denys Antas said that the board is challenged at building a strong and resilient financial position for SLDB.

“The major issue that we have to put forward, to focus on, is to create a new core business for SLDB.

“A core business that will generate sustainable, substantial, reliable income that will support our future.

“Without that it will be a tough time for us because for now about 66 per cent of our income are from treasury activities which is not sustainable. So the requirement to have alternative source of income is not a choice, it is a must,” he said

He added that they look forward to forming joint ventures with big companies especially in industry activities which are promoted by the government such as plantation for coconut, rubber, coffee, development of poultry industry which are the future of the industry.

“So the message here is that Sldb needs to have its own income, which is reliable and vibrant from the industries,” he said.

Also present at the event were Deputy Minister for Urban Planning Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, Member of Parliament for Serian, Datuk Sri Richard Riot Jaem, Pelagus state assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang, Permanent Secretary of M-FICORD Sirai Daha, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development of Sarawak Datuk Chiew Chee Yau.
