KUCHING: The 1446H Hijrah Discourse Programme themed ‘Al Falah Driving Sarawak My Homeland’ served as a platform to support the Sarawak government’s initiative for Muslim government officers.

Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) director Mual Suaud said this support is provided through lessons that can be drawn from the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad as a guide to developing Sarawak according to the leadership of Sarawak’s leaders.

“This is one of the programmes we organise to support the government’s efforts so that the Muslim community, especially government officers, play a role in realising our leaders’ aspirations to develop Sarawak by 2030,” he said.

He told reporters this after the programme at the Sarawak State Library here on Monday (Aug 5).

Mual added that by taking the lessons from the Hijrah of the Prophet, especially in terms of planning, the spirit of unity, and the spirit of belonging, it is hoped that Muslim government officers can also become an important front line.

This front line, he said, is crucial in ensuring the initiatives of the Sarawak government can be implemented.

“We take heed from Prophet Muhammad who migrated from Mecca to Yathrib before it became known as Madinah al-Munawwarah, the city of light.

“The transformation of that city signifies the sustainability and resilience of Madinah, as is currently promoted through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” he added.

During the event, Mual and Sarawak Mufti Department consultant expert Datuk Khalidi Ibrahim were the panellists while the head of division of the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department Ustaz Suharman Edward acted as the moderator.
