SIBU: Youth members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) must possess rational mindset in order to guide themselves towards maintaining a brighter future for the party.
PBB president and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the leaders of today are at a crossroads in managing the country and the state.
“That’s why I felt that we must also take into account the changes that are becoming increasingly apparent. These changes demand that PBB must inevitably adapt.
“We must take what is good and leave what is not. That means you need rational thinking.
“The members must have rational mindset in order to guide themselves towards the future. Thus, today, we are further strengthening our party through the youth wing,” he said.
He was launching the PBB Youth Wing for individuals aged 18 to 28 at a hotel here today.
Abang Johari expressed gratitude to the party members for keeping the spirit of PBB alive and has not faded from its inception until today.
“This is due to several factors. The first factor is unity and the good intentions that have been upheld by the party leadership from the beginning until now.
“The second is wisdom, the wisdom possessed by our leadership, from the past until the present. In a constantly changing environment, they have the wisdom to ensure that our party adapts to these changes.
“Third, our members have the resilience and spirit to fight for the future of our homeland,” he said.
Later, during a press conference, Abang Johari said Sarawak has made history by launching the PBB Youth Wing.
“This will provide an opportunity for youths aged 18 to 28 to become members of PBB and contribute not only to the development of PBB but also to the development of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition.
“They will be able to offer input to the leadership of PBB and GPS as we plan comprehensive policies for the people of Sarawak.
“Therefore, as a responsible and dominant party in Sarawak’s political landscape, PBB must train leaders starting from the youth level, so they can rise to the ranks of the men’s and women’s wings and eventually into leadership positions,” he added.
Abang Johari said through training and the exposure the party provided to the youth, it will be able to demonstrate leadership qualities both within the party and at the state level, steering the state towards a more sustainable future.
