ADVERTISE HERE
MIRI (Nov 4): The overgrown bushes and shrubs at a residential area in Luak here have raised concerns among the community there.
This was shared by Pakatan Harapan Sarawak secretary Alan Ling upon receiving the residents’ complaints on the overgrown weeds which they claimed was not only an eyesore but also one that could contribute to possible threat to public health and safety.
Ling, who recently visited the area, claimed that the unkempt bushes and shrubs had grown over six feet high, with some even reaching the height of a single-storey house.
“It is also the same case for the plot of reserve land located near the housing area where the site is now overgrown with weeds and shrubs.
“The residents are worried that their area will soon become a habitat for snakes and mosquitoes,” he said.
In this regard, he called upon the Miri City Council to look into this issue and take immediate action.
“As tax payers, residents are entitled to satisfactory services from the local government,” he said, adding that MCC ought to rectify this matter and ensure that council maintenance work is carried out consistently.
