PEDAWAN, Sept. 18: A security guard died after a motorcycle-ridden SUV was involved in an accident on P-Turn Batu-Bau Road, near Vision Height Housing Park 3, today.
In the incident at about 10.10am that morning, victim Nady Incheh, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene from severe injuries to both legs and face.
Padawan District Police Chief, Superintendent Barry William said the accident involved a 63-year-old male civilian driver of an SUV with a 45-year-old male passenger and a motorcycle ridden by the victim.
"An initial investigation found the SUV was moving straight in the middle lane from Batu Kawa towards Lundu.
"On arrival at the scene, the vehicle was believed to have lost control before breaking into the rear of the victim's motorcycle in the far right lane towards P-Turn", he said in a statement today.
He said that as a result of the breach, the victim was thrown over the road section, while both vehicles continued to move before crossing the roadblock in the middle section and being released into opposite directions.
"The victim suffered severe injuries to both legs and facial area confirmed death at approximately 11.26 am by the Assistant Medical Officer of Sarawak General Hospital (HUS).
"The driver and passenger of the SUV were not injured in the incident", he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.-TVS
