KUCHING: A memorandum of agreement (MoA) has been signed between Sara Entertainment Sdn Bhd and Rusa Marketing Sdn Bhd (Rusa Music) to initiate a partnership in managing and developing Sarawakian artists.
Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture (Creative Arts and Performing Arts Industry), Datuk Snowdan Lawan mentioned that Rusa Music has been in the Malaysian entertainment industry for over a decade, producing great artists such as the band Floor 88 and Baby Shima.
“Sarawak has many talents in the field of singing but sometimes lacks the knowledge of how to showcase them.
“For example, Iban singer Andrewson Ngalai for his song ‘Bekikis Bulu Betis’ is quite well-known and his song is even played in Johor, Pahang, and Singapore, but people do not recognise the singer,” he said during his speech at the MoA signing ceremony held at Star On Stage on Tuesday (July 9).
Therefore, he believes that with the establishment of this MoA, a suitable platform will be created to help and attract Sarawakian talents to a higher level.
The MoA was signed between the managing director of Sara Entertainment, Rizwan Edris, and the director of Rusa Music, Bratt Pua, and witnessed by the CEO of Sara Entertainment, Awangku Azrie Awg Dzulkarnain, and the operations manager of Rusa Music, Bon Slong Hool.
Both parties will collaborate for approximately one to two years, during which Rusa Music will assist local artists in royalty collection, publishing, and marketing.
Meanwhile, Rizwan explained that Sara Entertainment will also establish the Sara Academy located in Metrocity, Kuching to provide training to potential talents.
“The application for the first intake will open in August this year,” he said.
