Delegation from New Zealand’s University of Canterbury to visit Sibu

SIBU (Sept 12): A delegation from the University of Canterbury (UC), New Zealand led by vice-chancellor Prof Cheryl de la Rey will be here on Sept 26.

UC Alumni (Sibu Chapter) said it will host the UC Alumni Dinner Night at The Ark Café & Restaurant on Sept 26 at 6.30pm to mark the visit.

“The vice chancellor and colleagues are keen to meet and catch up with all UC Alumni in Sibu,” the organisation said in a press release today.

Besides Malaysia, de la Rey will also visit Singapore and Samoa.

She will be accompanied by UC director – advancement Thea Kleiber and UC associate director – advancement Charu Uppal.

According to the provided itinerary, the delegation is expected to arrive at Sibu Airport at 7.40am on Sept 26.

The delegation is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Sibu Municipal Council deputy chairman Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Roseley at 9.30am.

The team will then proceed to visit University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) at 10.30am and then Sacred Heart School at 11.30am.

At 2pm, the delegation will be at Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) before attending the dinner function at 6.30pm.

The University of Canterbury, one of the oldest universities in New Zealand, is located in Christchurch.

UC Alumni has 150,000 members worldwide.
