SIBU (Oct 7): The construction of a new building block at SK Kampung Bahagia Jaya, Teku here, is expected to be completed by 2026, said Datuk Aidel Lariwoo.
The Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, revealed that the construction involves a single building block with six classrooms, costing RM2.7 million.
“Perhaps, the construction can be completed earlier because, based on Public Works Department’s (JKR) assessment, the physical progress as of now, is ahead of schedule by 1.39 per cent.
“The new building block is needed to accommodate the growing number of pupils at this school,” he told reporters after attending a briefing at SK Kampung Bahagia Jaya, Teku here today.
He explained that the project is part of the 2023 redevelopment programme for dilapidated schools in Sibu Division, with SK Kampung Bahagia Jaya being is one of them.
Aidil said many dilapidated schools in Sibu division have already been redeveloped, while others are currently in implementation or planning stages.
At present, the SK Kampung Bahagia Jaya has 619 pupils.
