KUCHING: Sarawak Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni received a courtesy visit from the Kuching Division Women Muslim Community and Village Heads Association (Gawim) led by its chairperson, Norlidah Halmi, on today (Aug 13).

Gawim was officially established on September 13, 2022.

“The visit explained the functions of Gawim’s establishment and the roles it can play to assist the community, particularly in Kuching Division,” it said through a statement.

The main purpose of Gawim’s establishment is to look after the welfare of its members and assist with the welfare of village residents under the jurisdiction of the community and village heads under Gawim’s auspices.

Dr Hazland, who is also the Demak Laut assemblyman, fully supports the establishment and objectives of Gawim, which can bring positive returns to the local community.

He also provided advice and guidance to ensure that the association’s operations and management are always on the right track.

Additionally, he did not rule out future collaborations between the Demak Laut constituency and Gawim through the Demak Laut Village Committee to jointly organise programmes that can have a positive impact on the village community.

Gawim can also serve as a larger platform for community or village heads to manage the welfare and progress of villages more systematically and effectively in the future.
