Dignitaries pay last respects to late Tan Phua Eng

KUCHING (July 25): Several dignitaries paid their last respects to Tan Phua Eng today, the late mother of Sarawak-Australia Business Chamber (SABC) president Rodger Chan Siong Boh.

The wake and funeral service was held at their residence at Jalan Three Hills Park here.

Among those who came to pay their respects were Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; and Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, Xing Weiping.

Others who came were Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen; Kuching South Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng; The Federation of Chinese Associations of Sarawak president Dato Richard Wee Liang Chiat; Kuching Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Dato Tan Jit Kee; and Association of Aided Chinese Primary Schools Boards of Management for Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions president Dato Jonathan Chai Voon Tok.

Tan passed away at 8.56pm on July 22 at the age of 101 years old.

She left behind over 80 family members consisting of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
