KUCHING (July 26): Turkiye seeks to enhance the close cooperation with Sarawak on various industries including green energy.

This was highlighted by the Turkish Ambassador to Malaysia Emir Salim Yuksel during hios courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia in Petra Jaya here today.

According to the diplomat, companies in Turkiye look forward to working with their counterparts in Sarawak in areas of green energy, high-technology development, aerospace technology and digitisation.

“Yuksel’s visit meant to convey the intention to explore opportunities for corporations from Turkiye to cooperate with Sarawak in various industries,” said a statement from the Information Department.

Meanwhile, in a report released by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, Yuksel was quoted as saying that there were two Turkish companies eyeing on broadening their business operations in Sarawak.

“One of the companies is already established in Malaysia, while the other is exploring opportunities to enhance cooperation in the region.

“Personally, I am very excited about Sarawak’s vision because there are significant economic activities, and the Premier’s vision is very appealing,” Yuksel told reporters when met after the courtesy call.

He added that Sarawak’s focus on developing green energy resources, advanced high-tech development, infrastructure, aerospace technology, as well as digitalisation, had heightened the interest for potential collaboration.

“These are some areas that we specialise in. We have companies working towards this, and that’s why I had this meeting to introduce these two companies to the Premier.

“We also discussed their capabilities and how we can achieve synergy between our companies and Sarawak’s capabilities,” said Yuksel.
