KUCHING, 15 Oct: The Sarawak Government should accelerate the implementation of development projects in the DUN area of Tellian to ensure its benefits can be enjoyed by the people especially from aspects of basic infrastructure, water supply, electricity, housing and public facilities.

Tellian's Advisory Council Member Royston Valentine said the major development allocation should be translated into a result that people can experience through better access, guaranteed water supply, comfortable accommodation and wider economic opportunities.

"Large allocations are available for various projects in the DUN Tellian area including road construction and upgrading, water supply, river bank conservation, village expansion schemes, affordable housing, urban development and public facilities", he said.

He said this while discussing Sarawak Budget 2027 at the 19th Sarawak DUN Conference today.

According to him, under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP), 120 new and upgraded projects worth RM25 million have been implemented and are being implemented throughout the period 2022 to 2026.

"Out of the total, 47 projects involve access roads and plains worth RM9.4 million, 38 construction projects, bridges, jets and ponton worth RM8.1 million, while the rest involve buildings and community facilities, drainage and water supply systems, sports and recreation facilities as well as cemetery infrastructure", he said.

For 2027, he said, a total of 25 RTP projects are proposed with 18 projects worth RM3.91 million or 78.2 percent focused on basic infrastructure such as roads, canals, bridges, terrain and parings.

In addition, Royston explained that there are four projects under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) worth a total of RM98 million including Petanak Beach Hakisan Control Project, Anjung Ria Senaga Bukah, Kala Kala Funds Open Flavour Field and Newly Open Integrated Market.

"The project has the potential to transform Mukah landscape, as well as strengthen tourism sector and boost local economy", he explained.
