KUCHING: A total of 336 oral and written questions have been submitted by 40 Sarawak assemblymen ahead of the final sitting of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) from October 12 to 21.
DUN Speaker, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar said 264 questions were submitted by 37 assemblymen for oral replies, while 72 questions were submitted by 13 assemblymen for written replies.
He said the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication received the highest number of questions, with 56.
“As of the closing date on September 28, 2026, a total of 336 questions, oral and written, were received from 40 Honourable Members,” he said in a press conference today at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Sarawak’s Headquarters.
The eight day sitting will begin at 9:00 am on October 12 at the DUN Chamber, Level 8, with no sittings scheduled on October 17 and 18.
Four Government Bills will be tabled during the sitting, namely the Supply (2027) Bill, 2026, Supplementary Supply (2026) Bill, 2026, Sarawak State Library (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
The Supply (2027) Bill, 2026 will be tabled by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, with its first and second readings scheduled for October 12 and third reading on October 21.
Debate on the Supply Bill will take place from October 14 to 16.
The Supplementary Supply (2026) Bill, 2026 will be tabled by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, with its second and third readings scheduled for October 14.
The State Library and Public Holidays amendment Bills will be tabled by Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, and Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State Federal Relations), Datuk Hajah Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, respectively.
Both Bills will undergo their second and third readings on October 13.
Asfia said the question-and-answer session would take place over four days, from October 13 to 16.
Ministerial winding up is scheduled for October 19, 20 and 21.
The sitting will also see the election of a new senator following the expiry of Senator Michael Mujah Lihan’s term on December 10.
Asfia said no private members’ motions under Standing Order 23 were received by the October 2 deadline.
The sitting will also include the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Annual General Meeting on October 21.
As of today, the DUN has also received 18 annual reports and financial statements, six Command Papers, one Vote of Proceedings, one Hansard and one document containing written answers to members’ questions.
