KUCHING: Eastern Field Commander of the Army Lt Gen Datuk Mohd Sofi Md Lepi conducted a working visit to the site of Exercise ‘Brumal Setia’ Series 16/2024 and ‘Mertak Bersatu’ Series 14/2024 in Penanjong, Brunei.
The visit coincided with the ongoing exercises, running from September 19 to 26, which involved 20 officers and 341 personnel from both countries.
These bilateral exercises, Brumal/Malbru Setia and Mertak Bersatu, are joint training sessions between the Malaysian Army (TDM) and the Royal Brunei Land Forces (TDDB).
They follow up on Exercise Malbru Setia Series 15/2023 and Mertak Bersatu Series 13/2023, previously held at the Kota Belud Range and Sikuati from September 10 to 17, 2023.
The objectives of the exercises include sharing experiences, knowledge, and tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) to address current and future threats.
Additionally, they aim to strengthen cooperation in areas such as logistics, communication, and operational planning.
It also aims to foster closer military ties between both nations, providing personnel opportunities for interaction and camaraderie.
During his visit, Mohd Sofi met with the leadership of the Royal Brunei Land Forces, including Commander Brig Gen Mohammad Shanonnizam Sulaiman and Chief of Staff Lt Col Erwan Ibrahim, at TDDB Headquarters in Berakas Camp here.
Commander of the Malaysian Fifth Infantry Division Maj Gen Datuk Noorul Azril Ariffin was also present.
