Eighteen participants join UPM’s Ngajat workshop

BINTULU: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bintulu Campus organised a Ngajat Workshop in conjunction with the 2nd Edition Music and Sports Carnival (KAMUS 2024) at the Students  Centre of the university, on Saturday.

Eighteen participants from the Bintulu Division attended the one-day workshop, which was conducted by Fazry Abdullah together with the Majestic Shades Bintulu Dancers Association.

In the workshop, participants were introduced to the basic techniques of ngajat dance and were taught about the culture and ethnicity of the Iban tribe.

Fazry also explained the origin of the ngajat dance and the etiquette that should be followed when performing the dance.

The coordinator of the Ngajat KAMUS 2nd Edition Workshop, Ainul Fikri Mohamad Pauzi emphasised that this workshop was not only aimed at mastering dance movements but also to understand and appreciate the cultural wealth inherited by previous generations.
