Elderly man suffers burns in early morning hut fire at Kpg Tupong Ulu

KUCHING (Oct 3): An elderly man suffered burns to his hand after his hut in Kampung Tupong Ulu caught on fire early this morning.

According to Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak, the victim, identified as Jefferi Adi, 77, was residing in the hut when the fire happened.

Bomba received a distress call at around 3.02am and firefighters from Petrajaya and Padungan were dispatched to the location.

“Upon arrival, the hut was completely destroyed by fire.

“There was an elderly male victim residing in the hut who suffered burns to his hand,” the department said in a statement.

The victim was given treatment by the Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) team and was subsequently handed over to the Health Ministry personnel for further treatment.

The fire was brought under control by 3.20am and concluded at 3.29am.
