SIBU (Oct 20): More traditional cultural exchanges are encouraged among the younger generation to showcase the richness of Sarawak’s heritage.

The Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said that cultural exchanges have the potential to inspire youths to learn, explore, and build a solid foundation for their future successes.

“By integrating traditional culture with modern innovation, we are upholding the culture and passion of creativity for the next generation,” he said in a text speech read by Dr Cheong Yaw Liang at the Unity Arts Carnival here yesterday.

Moreover, Sagah said the carnival is not only a celebration of cultural diversity, but also showcases the richness of the state’s heritage through various forms of expressions such as fine arts, calligraphy, culinary arts, handicrafts, and cultural musical performances.

“The event demonstrates how different cultures can coexist in harmony as well as how powerful art can strengthen understanding and unity among the communities,” he added.

Among the events featured are the Chinese and Arabic calligraphy competitions, cultural performances, artisan markets, and culinary tastings.
