KUCHING (Aug 10): The Padawan Chapter of Junior Chamber International (JCI) will be holding its ‘Embrace Market 2.0: ‘Backyard Bergaya’, set to highlight promising talents and revitalise the creative businesses.

To be taking place at Kyujin Saradise here this Aug 24-25, the event aims to create a platform that not only fosters local economic growth, but also upholds a sense of pride and commitment to hometown development.

According to JCI Padawan commission director business Shirley Yew, Embrace Market 2.0 supports the creative industries by opening the prospects, showcasing local talents and contributing to the well-being of the community.

“This edition focuses on empowering local businesses by ensuring their perspectives are acknowledged and celebrated.

“We, the organising committee, are going all out towards enhancing their decision-making, leadership and communication skills, and at the same time, doing networking with like-minded individuals.

“By uniting the community, this ‘Backyard Bergaya’ edition aspires to inspire youths to recognise the opportunities within their home country, encouraging them to return and contribute towards building a stronger local economy and community,” said Yew, also head of the organising committee, when met today.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has been invited to officiate at the opening ceremony on Aug 24, after which a fashion show featuring designs by Bibiana Green will be staged.

Apart from the bazaar, other activities lined up for the two-day event are a ‘Sip and Network: Know Yourself’ session by Erwin Lai, a ‘Polygrow Kids Fun’ segment, a session on ‘A Journey Towards Becoming a Content Creator’ by Shi Qi, a ‘Sunset Yoga’ session by Maryam Evetovics, an automotive roadshow conducted by Regas, and wine-tasting by the venue-host Kyujin.

There will also be a session on ‘Vendor Markets and Business Insights with Pott Glasses, Kuala Lumpur’ led by the founder Tai Hau. Entry is free.

“We hope that this event would be enriched with opportunities, and able to serve as a platform for personal growth and community engagement.

“Join us in celebrating the local talents and the spirit of giving back to the community,” said Yew, who was accompanied by JCI Padawan president Douglas Bong during the meeting.
