Father, son injured in two-vehicle collision

BINTULU: A father and his son were left injured following a two-vehicle collision near SMK Kemena today (June 30).

The accident happened at around 12.15 am when a Toyota Hilux with the victims onboard rear-ended a lorry.

Firefighters from Bintulu station were dispatched to the scene, about 14km away, after receiving a distress call.

Upon arrival, the team discovered the 30-year-old man and his seven-year-old son trapped in the vehicle and extrication works were carried out using special rescue tools.

Once freed, both injured victims were handed over to paramedics for on-site treatment before being taken to Bintulu Hospital for further treatment.

The extent of their injuries was not known.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 1.55 am.
