OVER 170 underprivileged children enjoyed some year-end cheer, thanks to a food and beverage conglomerate.

Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&NHB) fulfilled the children’s wishlists, as per its holiday season tradition.

F&NHB employees reached out to 83 children from Yayasan Sunbeams Home, Kuala Lumpur, 28 children from Jireh Home in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and 62 children from The Salvation Army Home in Kota Samarahan in Kuching, Sarawak for this year’s initiative.

F&NHB brought Sunbeams Home’s children to SuperPark at Avenue K in the city centre for a day of fun and activities.

In addition to enjoying a day of play and games, the children were treated to a festive lunch, before receiving their Christmas gifts and goodie bags from F&NHB employees, two of whom dressed up as Santa Claus and an elf.

At Jireh Home, F&NHB volunteers sang Christmas carols with the children and donated F&N products and essential daily necessities to the home.

In Kota Samarahan, 62 children aged five to 19 had their wishlists fulfilled by F&NHB employees.

The company also supported a Christmas charity dinner organised by The Salvation Army Home.

“Our commitment to making a meaningful impact extends beyond our business objectives,” said F&NHB communications, corporate affairs and sustainability director Karen Tan.

“As 2023 comes to a close and we ready ourselves for the new year, our dedication to the well-being of our community remains a priority.

“By fulfilling their wishlists, we want to instil hope in the children and spread warmth and joy.

“We feel that this generosity represents the true essence of the holiday and also reflects our group’s sincerity in brightening the lives of others.”

She said the company highly valued the relationship between different cultures and saw the festive celebrations as a way for all Malaysians to come together harmoniously.

“F&N has grown with generations of Malaysians who hold the brand dear to their hearts,” said Tan.

“We are honoured to be able to use social initiatives as a way to bring our multicultural nation together.

“Our duty is not only to bring joy to communities around us, but to work with them to uplift them for a better Malaysia.”

In addition to festive outreach programmes throughout the year, F&NHB also conducts community empowerment programmes that promote a more equal society through diversity, equal opportunities and social inclusion.

Earlier this year during Deepavali, F&NHB donated baking equipment to MySkills Foundation’s culinary school.

The group also engaged celebrity chef Kamaruddin Adnin to conduct a cooking demonstration, where he taught students his approach to making iconic Malaysian dishes.

“It is our privilege and responsibility to be able to contribute towards a better society,” said Tan.

“We will continue to focus our festive efforts to support the welfare of less fortunate children while also maintaining our commitment to community development and inclusive growth through our other outreach initiatives.”
