ADVERTISE HERE
SERIAN (Aug 20): Parent-teacher associations (PTAs) should file a report on sick projects in their respective schools to the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), and also to the federal Ministry of Education.
In making this call, Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn was particularly referring to the dormitory block at SMK Tun Abdul Razak here, which he described as ‘still in a dilapidated state’.
“Many years ago when I visited SMK Tun Abdul Razak, the new dormitory block project had already kicked off. I thought it was already completed (by now).
“Then I saw (Puncak Borneo MP) Datuk Willie Mongin’s Facebook post about the new dormitory block issue.
“I never heard about it, nobody complained about it,” said Sagah when met by reporters after launching the ‘Children Advocacy Programme’ at SMK Tun Abdul Razak yesterday.
Sagah said the dormitory block had become ‘a sick project’, as the contractor had absconded and did not finish the works.
“Get the PTA to make a report. We see what we can work out from the MEITD together with the federal Minister of Education.
“It will also involve the Education Department and in this respect, the District Education Office will also be involved,” Sagah stressed.
Last Saturday, Willie uploaded a Facebook post about SMK Tun Abdul Razak principal Eng Bung Chai having visited his Puncak Borneo Office, talking about the new dormitory block that was still unfinished, along with the old, dilapidated building at the school that needed to be demolished due to safety concerns.
