Fire damages storeroom at kitchenware shop

KUCHING (July 23): A storeroom of a kitchenware shop at Jalan Rubber here was slightly damaged after a fire broke out Tuesday afternoon.

Personnel from the Padungan and Batu Lintang fire stations were rushed to the scene following a distress call at 1.17pm.

“Upon arrival, it was found that the fire involved several items and kitchenware placed outside the storeroom.

“Damage to the storeroom is estimated at 10 per cent,” the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said in a statement.

It said the situation was brought under control at 1.42pm, with the fire fully extinguished minutes later.

“No report of injuries was received, and the cause of the fire is under investigation,” added Bomba.
